1121 at Symphony Square, Austin, Texas

1121 at Symphony Square is a class A, seven-story, mixed-use development in downtown Austin, Texas located between the natural beauty of Waller Creek Greenbelt trail and historic Symphony Square. The building contains 160,000 square feet of office area, 4,000 square feet of retail space and indoor-outdoor amenities aimed at luring tech companies and their employees to live, work and play. Developers Greystar and Ivanhoé Cambridge commissioned local Austin artists to create murals and mosaics reflective of the building’s palette of rich azure blue and copper-colored paneling, wood accents, and cream-colored local Austin limestone. The artwork is a lively, visual celebration of the area’s natural beauty, musical heritage, and innovation, telling a story and giving a sense of place. From far away the lobby mosaics read like abstracted hill country landscapes. As you move closer, customized mosaic tiles come into view that speak to the history of Symphony Square, the Red River Music District, and the creative culture of Austin. There are so many details to discover for both newcomers to Austin, or those who have lived here their whole lives.

This Mass Timber Mixed-Use Building Uses Art to Inspire Forward-Thinking Tenants

T3 Eastside, Austin, Texas

Hines’ new Class-A, mixed-use mass timber building, T3 Eastside, features 160,000 square feet of office space and 4000 square feet of residential lofts. The building is designed to attract tenants in creative industries with sustainably sourced wood construction and interiors, state of the art technology, and wellness-based amenities. We helped them put together an art package that matches the unique and inspiring natural wood work environment. Eye-catching wood mosaics line the front lobby and abstract paintings with electric, neon accents hang in the main amenities areas. Original commissioned artwork in the corridors uses sculpted canvas for a 3D, motion effect. A custom graphic mural in the gym depicts Austin’s runners and the city’s high energy, healthy lifestyle. Another custom graphic mural in the lounge features a map of Austin with a neon line running through it to represent the Lance Armstrong Bikeway located just outside the building.

The Link at Uptown, Dallas, Texas

The Link at Uptown is a Class AA luxury office tower with 25 floors and just under 300,000 square feet in the heart of Uptown Dallas. Called The Link because of its location between Uptown, Victory Park, and Downtown Dallas, developers at Kaizen Development Partners wanted it to be a place where connections are made between neighborhoods and companies. We helped them commission a package of iconic artwork to place throughout the building. Including a spectacular statement piece for the lobby. It features a network of interlocking glass forms vibrantly backlit with LEDs that slowly change color throughout the day. “People keep tapping at the door wanting to come in and take pictures,” says one security guard. Additional pieces on the 12th floor amenities lounge feature streetscapes from the Dallas business community created with individually rolled Dallas Business Journal publications.
