Union on San Antonio

Belonging, Bold and Bright

Developer: Kairoi Residential
Location: Fort Worth, TX
Project Type: Multifamily Apartment Complex

Home to the world’s only twice-daily longhorn cattle drive, championship rodeo, and the largest honky-tonk in Texas, the Stockyards district draws over three million visitors a year. For the residential tenants at The Union at Stockyards, a new apartment complex in the district, crowds and visitor foot traffic are part of daily life. Two exterior murals at Union at Stockyards do double duty, giving the building a sense of identity that holds up for out-of-towners, while creating moments of recognition and pride for the residents and staff who experience them daily.

Two Dallas-based artists brought bold, Texas-rooted imagery to the space. Each artist developed a distinct visual language for their wall, introducing saturated color, graphic pattern, and a deep familiarity with the iconography of the iconic Texas neighborhood across the two compositions. Between both murals, you’ll find longhorns, cacti, cowgirls, the Texas flag, and the building’s own tagline: “In With The Bold.” The murals cross regionality with confidence, reflecting the dynamic tone of the Stockyards district.

In spaces like this one, where public and private life overlap, art that feels rooted in place helps all visitors feel like they belong.
