Art + Artisans developed a comprehensive art program for Tokyo Electron, a global technology company’s new Austin headquarters that honors the organization’s Japanese heritage while celebrating its Texas roots. The semiconductor equipment manufacturer, which has operated in the U.S. for over 30 years, relocated to three floors in the RiverSouth building with a vision of connecting its multi-generational workforce through thoughtful curation.
The collection features 25 works using approaches spanning from traditional to contemporary. Japanese techniques, from woodblock print reproductions to shibori textile and renzuru origami pieces create visual connections to the company’s cultural foundation. Texas landscapes balance this heritage focus, with cypress trees, sunset scenes, and native sage representing the company’s longstanding Austin presence.
Technology-inspired pieces reflect the Tokyo Electron’s role in semiconductor innovation. Copper wire sculptures and computer key installations embed company values into the physical workspace, while a ceramic column wrapping represent each employee is designed to grow as the organization expands.
The art program includes both permanent installations and a rotating gallery space. Moveable, interactive pieces invite employee engagement, while conference rooms named after Austin and Japanese natural features reinforce the cultural bridge that defines this global technology leader’s American home.
